The Osborne Lights At Disney’s Hollywood Studios Are Done

The rumors are now true - Osborne Family Spectacle of Dancing Lights 2015 is the last year. Disney has announced that this will be the 20th and final year for the lights at Disney’s Hollywood Studios as construction begins on Star Wars Land and Toy Story Land expansions

Disney Blog: As you plan ahead, we also wanted you to know that this holiday season will mark the finale for The Osborne Family Spectacle of Dancing Lights. The display of lights has enjoyed a successful run at Disney’s Hollywood Studios, going all the way back to when it first appeared on Residential Street.

In order to prepare for some incredible experiences coming to the park, including the recently announced Toy Story Land and a Star Wars-themed land, we will not be able to present The Osborne Family Spectacle of Dancing Lights in the future. Our heartfelt thanks go out to the family of Jennings Osborne for letting us share their family tradition year after year. And thank you to all of you for being part of the spectacle with us. Here’s to making more memories in this, the 20th and final year.

This announcement was made in preparation for two new offerings coming to the Osborne Lights for this final season.

Two more options for holiday fun at Walt Disney World Resort will soon be available to book: the Merry & Bright Dessert Party (Nov. 6-Dec. 30) and the Merry & Bright Dinner Reception (Jan. 1- 3), both overlooking The Osborne Family Spectacle of Dancing Lights at Disney’s Hollywood Studios.

With the dessert party, guests will enjoy holiday-themed desserts while surrounded by the amazing light display. New for 2015 is a dinner reception Jan. 1 – 3, featuring a selection of small bites including beef, shrimp and turkey, plus wine, beer and specialty beverages. Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa 

Makes 36 cookies

Ingredients
2 sticks softened butter
2 1/2 cups confectioner’s sugar, sifted
2 eggs
1 1/4 teaspoon baking powder
1/2 teaspoon salt
3 2/3 cups all purpose flour
2 1/2 teaspoons ground cinnamon
2 1/4 teaspoons ground coriander
2 teaspoons ground star anise
1 teaspoon ground fennel
1 teaspoon ground ginger
1 teaspoon ground clove
1/4 teaspoon ground mace
Ingredients for decorations optional
1/4 cup milk
1 cup colored sugar granules

Directions

1. Cream the butter and sugar in a large mixing bowl until smooth using an electric mixer. Add the eggs and mix until combined.
2. Sift all the remaining dry ingredients in a separate large mixing bowl and mix well. With the mixer on low, slowly add the dry ingredients to the butter mixture until a dough forms
3. Remove dough from the bowl and wrap in plastic wrap; place in refrigerator until firm, two to four hours.
4. Preheat oven to 350 degrees and grease cookie sheets.
5. Remove dough from refrigerator and allow dough to sit at room temperature for about 15 minutes, until pliable. Divide dough in half and place on floured work surface. Using a rolling pin, roll the dough out until about 1/8 inch thick. While rolling, flour the work surface and rolling pin as needed.
6. Cut out desired cookie shapes with cookie cutters. Transfer cookies to a greased cookie sheet, placing them 1 inch apart.
7. Lightly brush cookies with milk and sprinkle with sugar granules as desired.
8. Bake until firm and edges begin to darken, 10-14 minutes. Allow cookies to cool on the cookie sheet for a minute, then transfer to wire racks to cool completely.

  So you're traveling to one of the Disney parks with a baby or toddler? Are you stressing over how you'll handle diaper changes, feedings or even the dreaded potty training time? Have no fear, Baby Care Centers are located in each park (with exception of water parks, resort hotels, and Downtown Disney)! Each care center has the following to offer:

• Private nursing rooms
• Changing rooms
• Feeding area
• Kitchen with microwave, oven and sink
• Cozy living room area with TV, chairs, and sofa
• Also an on site shop that offers formula, baby food, diapers, wipes, sunscreen, over the counter medicine, and even clothing.

At Walt Disney World you can find a center at each park, which are centrally located for quick access. At the water parks, resorts, and Downtown Disney the bathrooms have changing tables for guest. At Magical Kingdom the center is located near The Crystal Palace. At Epcot the center is located near Odyssey Center. At Hollywood Studio it is located right near the entrance. Then Animal Kingdom's center is located by Creature Comforts.

At Disneyland the care center is located near Plaza Inn. They also have a location at Disney California Adventure, which is located near Ghiradeli Soda Fountain. 

Each location also acts as a lost child location. So if a cast member finds a child who has lost their parents they will take the child to this location. If you have a lost child find your nearest Cast Member and they will assist you.

As a parent of a toddler knowing all this makes me stress less and I hope you find all the information very helpful!

Epcot®

Santa and Mrs. Claus will be at the American Adventure pavilion during Holidays Around the World between Nov. 23-Dec. 30.   Santa’s from around the world will be in their respective countries telling stories of Christmas, including Father Christmas in the United Kingdom and Père Noël in France.

Disney’s Hollywood Studios®

Our Santa Goofy greets guests daily in Goofy’s Winter Wonderland on the Streets of America during theOsborne Family Spectacle of Dancing Lights now through Jan. 6.

Disney’s Animal Kingdom® Theme Park

Our Santa Goofy is also meeting daily at Goofy’s Wild Wonderland in Camp Minnie-Mickey with his pals Mickey and Minnie (dressed in their holiday attire).

Downtown Disney

At the Marketplace, you'll find Santa Claus waiting to greet you at his chalet in front of the World of Disney store. You can take your own pictures or use PhotoPass:

Most people that want to travel to a Disney theme park have to take a plane to reach sunny Florida, and a big thing that can make you hesitate is the thought of being stuck on plane with a crying, wiggling child…here are some hints to help make that trip a little smoother;

I just recently completed a trip between New York and Florida with my 22 month old child, in my lap, via plane. And I can tell you before the trip I was in panic mode! I don't normally like to fly myself, but now I was going to have to try and keep a normally active toddler seated and entertained for more than 2 1/2 hours! (and with a layover), and my son ended up having a double ear infection! Well I did survive and he was surprisingly well behaved (most times) I'll share some of my tips that i used to keep my sanity and the other passengers’ sanity as well, lol.

Here they are in no particular order:

·     Take your children to the doctors before the flight to check for ear infections! My son was prone to ear infections and he hadn't really been pulling at his ears or anything, I just wanted to be safe, well turns out he had a double ear infection. I took him a day and a half before the flight and the doc told me his ear infection would not be cleared up by the time we had to fly out, so give a good 3-4 days cushion to help the ear infection clear up with antibiotics. (we flew anyway with some advice from the doctor, and medication, ALWAYS CHECK WITH YOUR DOCTOR FIRST!)

·     PACK SNACKS ~ My son is happy if he's eating, and don't worry about stuffing your child, or giving them too much junk food....after all how many times do you really fly, make it a treat for them!

·     Bring a drink for your toddler to suck on for takeoff and landing. I had contacted TSA before I flew and found out that if you are flying with a child, that they are not subject to the 3oz liquid rule, I brought 3 Capri Sun juice packets for my little man to drink, I just had to declare them to the TSA security officer before my bags were scanned.

·     Bring a change of clothes for your toddler, turbulence is common and so are spills and leaky diapers. We experienced the later and my Little Man ended up walking around the next airport with only a diaper on and no shorts because I forgot to pack an extra pair...learn from my mistake.

·     Bring a portable DVD player, or do what I do, always fly JetBlue (I love that every seat has its own personal t.v. in the headrest)

·     First Class or Not First Class, that is the question...well for me the extra money for the "extra room" seat was WELL worth it, in a normal seat I literally couldn't move with my toddler in my lap, and I couldn't reach the baby bag at my feet

If you have a layover and know what airport you're flying to, get on the internet or call the airport and find out if they have play areas for kids, its a great way in between flights to burn off some of that energy from sitting still so long, you'd be surprised a lot of airports have these now...mine did...THANK GOODNESS!

New Disney PhotoPass Service website connects with MyMagic+

Disney PhotoPass Service has launched a new website for Walt Disney World Resort Guests. The new website URL is www.MyDisneyPhotoPass.com and is now available for Guests to view their Disney PhotoPass photos.

In conjunction with the new website, Guests now have the ability to touch to associate their photos directly to their My Disney Experience account using MagicBands or RF-enabled cards, such as Key to the World cards or theme park tickets. This functionality is currently only available with photos taken by a roving Disney PhotoPass Photographer.

The photos will be linked on Guests' My Disney Experience accounts. A link in My Disney Experience will drive Guests to the new Disney PhotoPass Service website. This is the fifth element of the MyMagic+ experience that enables a simple interaction (touch), making our Guests' visits better than before. No longer will Guests need to carry or keep track of another card ? all of their photos will be connected with their My Disney Experience accounts.
In addition to the integration with MagicBands and My Disney Experience, the Disney PhotoPass Service website offers Guests a new photo mosaic view organizing images by date and location, making it easier for Guests to relive their vacation memories. Also, a new expiration policy is now in place and all photos captured on or after Sept. 3 at the Walt Disney World Resort will expire 45 days from the date the photo was taken.
The new Disney PhotoPass Service website is another way we are taking the Guest experience to an all-new level with MyMagic+.
