Remy's Ratatouille Hide & Squeak Scavenger Hunt and Pin Trading Family Adventure in EPCOT

Here are some details about Remy's Ratatouille Hide & Squeak adventure in Epcot!  Help Remy find the ingredients to complete his signature dish, Ratatouille.
  • Buy a map at one of the following locations inside Epcot: Disney Traders, Festival Center, Pin Central, Port of Entry, or World Traveler (International Gateway).
  • Work your way around the lagoon finding the various statuettes of Remy throughout the World Showcase. There are a total of 12.
  • When you find a statuette of Remy with one of his ingredients, place the matching sticker on the map to represent that corresponding location you found him in.
  • When you have found all of the ingredients, simply show your map to the redemption location at Disney Traders by November 14, 2016 to pick up your surprise.

Cost?

$8.99, plus tax. Received discount with annual pass

It is a simple process. Some statuettes can be difficult to find but we found that the cast members were happy to give hints to Remy’s location if we were stuck.  If you've already done it, it is fun to do again!  He is hidden in all new locations from last year.  This is good for all ages.  It is best to do it in daylight, just keep in mind most of World Showcase doesn't open until 11 AM.

If you are only interested in the surprise and do not want to actually search for Remy, you can return your map completed or not to Disney Traders to redeem one of six limited release pins

Tidbits:

Back again for the second year
This year’s surprise is one of six limited release pins
Participate while supplies last during the Epcot International Food & Wine Festival between September 14th and November 14th, 2016
The scavenger hunt is a great way to keep children entertained and engaged while exploring the food and drinks available around the World Showcase during the Food & Wine Festival.

Coral Reef Restaurant at EPCOT 101

I had the pleasure of eating at The Coral Reef Restaurant on my recent trip to Orlando. This restaurant is located in the Land and Seas portion of Epcot.  Here is the ENTIRE breakdown of this awesome dining facility.

Theme:
What I call “under the sea”. From the lighting to the color choices, you immediately feel like you are about to go into a scuba diving adventure from the minute you walk into the restaurant. The hostess desk has octopus lighting fixtures on it and a glass desk top that resembles sea glass. The dining room is the BEST part, and also the biggest part of the restaurant. You will get to dine right next to sting rays and sharks! There are also over 80 different types of fish in the tank, just in case sting rays and sharks aren’t enough!!! There are 3 small levels, for prime viewing experience no matter where you are sat.  There are scuba divers that come in the tanks and they wave to you as they swim by! It has a very elegant, yet casual feel to it.

Food:
The menu is very simple. There are plenty of seafood choices, as well as some land choices as well. To start, the calamari was AMAZING! The best calamari I have had in a long time. It was so flavorful and well cooked.  We also enjoyed the crab-spinach fondue which was also awesome! For dinner, we had the pleasure of eating the NY Strip Steak and the Shrimp and Grits. Both entrees were very tasty, and well prepared. All of the food came out in a timely fashion; we didn’t have to wait for a long time between our appetizers and entrees. For desert, we enjoyed the Chocolate Wave. It was a chocolate cake, with a warm fudge center that pours out when you cut it in half! I have nothing bad to say about the food we ate that day. And from what the other customers in the dining room shared, they had the same opinion.

Price:
For the food we ate, and the experience we had the prices are very reasonable. They also accept the dining plan! It is 1 dining plan credit. They also give an Annual Pass discount, as well as Tables in wonderland discount.

Hours and Reservations:
They open at 12:00pm EST for lunch and run that menu until 3:00pm EST. Dinner begins at 4:00pm.  Reservations were relatively easy to obtain. I changed my time twice, one being a week before our arrival to Epcot.

Overall:
I think that this is a great place to dine. It has more of an adult ambiance if you want a place to eat without the kids, but also is a great place to bring the kids! There really isn’t any “Disney” to this dining experience, which could be a nice break from the park craziness! There are a lot of food choices in Epcot, but I think that this is the best choice! Its off the grid, and quiet in the park. Overall, I can’t say anything bad about this place. It was a great experience and I am looking forward to eating here again!!

Chip N Dale’s Fall Harvest Breakfast Review at EPCOT Walt Disney World, Garden Grill Restaurant

The Garden Grill is a restaurant located in “The Land’ pavilion in Epcot. It is known as the rotating restaurant with views of the Living with the Land attraction and excellent character experience dining….AND NOW THEY SERVE BREAKFAST!

It’s no secret to my family that breakfast is my favorite meal of the day, lol.

The Garden Grill began offering breakfast Nov 8th, 2015 hosted by Chip ‘N Dale
Some things to know before you go…

  • Breakfast reservations starts as early as 8am (yes! You can get in before the park officially opens)
  • This is an All You Can eat Family Style breakfast, foods that will be brought out to you include; Eggs, Mickey Waffles, Bacon, Ham, Tatter Tots, Biscuits and Gravy, Fruit and the deliciously giant Sticky Bun Bake! (look at all that gooey, yumminess up close!)

  • I would recommend telling the host or hostess before you are seated that you would prefer a table on the lower level (better views, you won’t be staring straight at a wall)

  • During this experience we actually had the characters come by our table twice, but that might now always be the norm, it wasn’t busy at all that morning.

  • Try the POG juice, oh so good!
  • There were really great character interactions, we didn’t feel rushed at all, and several characters played and goofed around with my boys.

  • The characters you will meet are Chip, Dale, Pluto, and Mickey

  • Adult cost is $29.99, Child cost was $17.99 (prices could vary depending on time of year)

Disney's Le Cellier Cheese Soup Recipe (tweaked to perfection!)

The recipe I found on the internet for Le Cellier's famous Canadian cheddar cheese soup needed some adjustments.  This recipe contains my tried and true recipe.  I typically double the ingredients so I have a nice big batch.  Enjoy!

Le Cellier Canadian Cheese Soup
*1/4 lb bacon finely chopped
*1 med red onion cut into ¼ pieces
*1/2 c finely sliced celery
*1/2 c finely chopped carrots
*3 tbs cornstarch (or flour but I recommend cornstarch for thickness)
*1.5 c whole milk
*1.5 c whipping cream
*2 c chicken stock
*12 oz grated white cheddar (I’ve used shredded regular cheddar, white is expensive and hard to find)
3 dashes tobacco
½ tsp worchestershire
½ c beer, room temperature
*salt and pepper to taste
*thinly chopped chives

Directions:
1)      Cook bacon in large soup pot over med heat until wilted but not browned
2)      Add onions, celery and carrots and cook until onion is translucent and bacon has crisped (takes a while)
3)      Sprinkle in cornstarch and stir constantly for 2 minutes.  Stir in chicken stock, milk and whipping cream (stock first) a little at a time, blending well to ensure there are no lumps. I use a whisk.  Bring to boil then cover and simmer 15 minutes.
4)      Remove from heat and whisk in cheese tobacco, worchestershire and beer.  Season with salt and pepper.
5)      Optional: serve with bacon pieces, chives, shredded cheddar and/or bread.

Pretzel bread recipe available upon request

A Pirates Adventure

A Pirates Adventure – Treasure of the Seven Seas opened in 2013, and I know my family has walked by this building several times without stopping, and a few times giving a sideways glance to the little building off to the right.  It took us almost a year to finally venture into this pint-sized structure, but what we found inside will bring us back again and again now!

Pirates Adventure - Treasure of the Seven Seas is an interactive experience where you can join Captain Jack for a series of missions at Magic Kingdom park. When you step into the small building it feels like you’re back in the time of pirates. We were directed to a screen where we choose how many people would like to join in the treasure hunting and told which map to grab over to the right. There are 5 different maps available, which means you can come back and do it over and over and not have the same scenario. Your ‘talisman’ is actually your magic band or RFI ticket card.  From there you start on your mission following the clues on the map and zig zagging around Adventureland. Most people we passed had no idea what we were up to, and we actually had to ask a woman to stand up, as she was sitting on our clue! Lol
But over all we had a lot of fun with this experience, and we will be doing it again! Each mission only took 15 minutes or so, depending how lost we got following the map, lol…note to self; practice navigating. I highly recommend this adventure, my young pirate loved it…and momma had fun too!
